Sharon Vazanna
About the author
Sharon Vazanna is a winner of The Ministry of Culture Artistic Dance Award for promising Choreographers 2019.
Independent choreographer and dancer, a member of the Choreographers’ Association. Founder of the Body in Dance Company (Sharon Vazanna Dance Company). Her works have been invited to perform throughout Europe and the United States. Her works won prizes at the Masdanza choreography competition in the Canary Islands, Spain 2013, the Dudu Dotan Scholarship Encouragement Scholarship on behalf of the EMI Foundation and Bank Hapoalim 2016 and the Choreography Competition of the Fringe Theater Beer Sheva 2017, 2018.
Sharon holds a master’s degree in choreography from the Rubin Academy of Dance in Jerusalem and a bachelor’s degree from the Rotterdam Academy of Dance, the Netherlands. She danced in the Cullberg Ballet in Sweden and the Kibbutzim Dance Company. Worked with choreographers Johann Inger, Crystal Pite, Alexander Ekman, Mats Ek, Idan Cohen, Idan Sharabi and many others.
In 2016, she was invited for work and teaching residency at Muhlenberg College, Pennsylvania, USA on behalf of the Schusterman Foundation and the Israel Institute. In 2017 Sharon created for Delattre Dance Company in Germany and in 2021 she will create a new work for Inbal Dance Company.
Sharon teaches contemporary dance, repertoire and artist workshops in various platforms locally and internationally, including Thelma Yellin High School, NOD in Turin, Italy and more. Her work is supported by, among others, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Choreographers’ Association, the Lottery Art Council (Mifal HaPayis), the Arts Department of the Tel Aviv Municipality, Tmuna Theater and the Yehoshua Rabinovich Foundation for the Arts.

Awards and Grants
Sharon Vazanna’s works won awards in the Masdanza Choreography Competition in the Canary Islands, Spain 2013, the 2018 Choreography Competition at the Fringe Theater Beer Sheva, the 2016 Dudu Dotan Scholarship Encouragement Scholarship on behalf of the EMI Foundation and Bank Hapoalim and the 2019 Minister of Culture and Sports Award for Young choreographers.
