About the author
Awarded the Minister of Aliyah and Integration Award for Integrated Artists for 2012 and the Minister of Culture Award for up and coming Artists in 2015. Lives and works in Tel Aviv-Israel. Graduated with honors with an MA in Choreography from the Laban Center London. Her works have been performed locally and internationally and gained international recognition. Her works have been performed on prestigious stages such as the Royal Opera House in London, on the stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and at The Joyce in New York. In 2008 Rachel was awarded the prestigious International choreography competition Prize on behalf of ‘AICC’ in Aarhus Denmark. In 2009 she won the Ensemble City Dance’s Choreographers’ Competition as the ‘Next Selected Project’ and the Albert Gaubier’s Excellency Award in Denmark. In 2014 she received the NorthWest Dance Projects Art Award in Portland USA. In 2018, she was invited to teach as part of the visiting artist / lecturer program at Brown University in the United States. In 2019 Rachel was invited as a guest artist to the Catapult Dance Center in Newcastle Australia and was commissioned to create another work in 2021. In 2020 Rachel was commissioned to create works for the Backhaus Dance Company in the United States and the Panta Rei Dance Theater Norway.
Artistic Achievements and Awards
Winner of the 2008 first prize at AICC – an international choreographers’ competition in Aarhus, Denmark for the work “Alma”.
Winner of the 2009 Next Commissioning Project of the City Ensemble Dance’s in Washington DC for the work “Alma” that has been produced at the Kennedy Centre and listed in the company’s repertoire.
Granted a scholarship from the Albert Gauber Foundation for Ballet and Dance from Denmark in 2009.
Awarded the Minister of Aliyah and Integration Award for Integrated Artists for 2012.
Received the 2014 NorthWest Dance Project Pretty Creative Commission in Portland USA.
Granted the 2014 IUGTE scholarship (on behalf of the International University Global Theater Experience).
Awarded the 2015 Minister of Culture Award for Independent Creative Artists in the Field of Dance.
Education and Professional Training
1997 – 2000 First Class Honors Degree in Dance undergraduate studies at the Roehampton Institute London
2000-2001 Graduated with honors with an MA in Choreography from the Laban Center London.
In 2002 Rachel was selected to participate in “Live-I” in New York, a dance and technology training program that took place in ‘Troika Ranch Company’, together with 9 selected choreographers from different countries around the world.
In 2010 she was selected among hundreds of choreographers from around the world, to take part in “sCrossing”, an international hospitality dance project that took place in Johannesburg South Africa. In the same year she was invited and took part in Blank Canvas, an international hospitality dance project by The Firkin Crane which took place in Cork, Ireland.
Participates in the 2014 International Directors Training Program of IUGTE (on behalf of the International University Global Theater Experience).
Selected to participate in the 2015 SUMAC training program in New York under the artistic training of choreographer Susan Marshall.
2015 Selected Choreographer to take part in The Bench Project, a new project initiated by 2Faced Dance to train women choreographer in the UK.
2017 Participates in a dance residency in Kinitiras Performance Space, Athens, Greece.
2018 Participates in a choreographers’ development program in Springboard, Montreal.
2018 Participates in a dance residency in ‘Between the Seas’, Monemvasia, Greece.
2018 Participates in a dance residency in R.E.D, Eina, Norway.
2018 Participates in a dance residency in Catapult Choreographic Center, Newcastle, Australia.
Dramaturg and Artistic Consulting
For the past three years Rachel has served as a dramaturg and artistic advisor to a variety of artists such as; The Panta Rei Danseteater company, Norway, Yossi Berg and Oded Graf in the performances – “Le Sacre du Printemps” and “When Love walked In”, Ido Gidron, Uri Lenkinski, Liron Ozri.
