Choreographer, dancer and teacher. She studied Royal Academic Ballet and began her career as a dancer in Cape Town’s classical ballet company Capab, in South Africa, her homeland.
Danced with ballet companies in Europe, and after immigrating to Israel she danced with Bat-Dor and Batsheva. As an independent dancer, Sally-Ann has won various awards in Israel and internationally, including the Violin of David award for Dancer of the Year.
In 2002, Sally-Ann founded the Dance Drama dance company – DDC. As a choreographer, her works have been performed by the DDC on numerous stages in Israel and at international dance festivals in the United States (New York and Atlanta), South Korea, France, Sweden, Ecuador, Lithuania, Poland, and Colombia.
Sally-Ann has also created a number of choreographies for the new Israeli Opera, theater performances, and has also created two children’s plays for the DDC company (in collaboration with other theaters).
Sally-Ann Friedland regularly serves as a judge for various dance competitions, and has also served as a judge in the hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars”. She was a dance critic for the Jerusalem Post, and the Israeli correspondent for the American Dance Magazine.
