Born 1967. Independent choreographer and teacher, artistic director of the Gila project – an artistic place for mature women, founder of Gila in Motion workshops and stage art for women of the golden age.
Graduated from the Artists for Social Change program at The Naggar School of Photography, Media and New Music is an art school in Musrara, 2008. MA Graduate from the Jerusalem Dance and Music academy, Art department, Hebrew University, 2005-2007. BA and Teaching Diploma Graduate from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, 1984-1992.
As part of Galit’s artistic and social agenda, she creates with non-dancer women, she works to create an artistic space for the mature age and promoting the idea of life in a society that allows development and self fulfilment in a mature body. Galit is a pioneer in her Social-Artistic work. In her extensive work, she raises old age on the public agenda, and asks to stretch the boundaries of performative dance genre contrary to popular perceptions and stereotypes in society, and redefining the relevance of the body as it is. She brings different perspective to the traditional interpretation on the female body and old age.
Galit began her career as a creator in 2008, after years of dance teaching and management (Manager of Beit Dani Dance School, Ha’Itim Dance Center, head of dance at the Culture and Art Educational Organization).
Her works are performed on professional stages, locally and internationally. Her dance piece “GO- Honest Manifest to the Mature Body!” Was commissioned internationally, and received exciting feedbacks and huge success. The company performed at TANZ-THEATRE, the 2019 Hanover international Dance Festival, Germany, the 2020 TANZBremen Festival in Germany and World Gold Theatre Festival in Tokyo, Japan.
In 2009, she founded the Gila in motion and Stage art workshops for women at mature age, in which she investigates the existence of the body and old age through movement and develops a unique language and methodology in the artistic aspect. Furthermore, this work contributes to the mental well-being and refinement of physical abilities in aging. Women from all over Israel come to the workshops. This school is the first of its kind in Israel.
Galit is involved in the work of contemporary dance in Israel, and combines the social with the artistic through collaborations in the areas of old age, locally and internationally.
She is commissioned for Artist workshops, lectures and meetings in professional conventions locally and internationally, subjects include old age, gender education, medicine and more. These ran at Harvard University (2018), Oxford University (2017), Ageless Festival, England (2019) and in September 2020 she is invited to run a workshop in Shanghai International Dance Center Theater, China.
