About the author
Born 1997. A multidisciplinary creator: designer, illustrator, Visual Artists, choreographer and dancer. Her pieces are signified with different combinations of disciplines such as dance, animation, illustration and video art. Winner of the 2014 Cultural Administration choreography award. Winner of the 2015 Treasurer Creator fellowship by the Bistritzky foundation. Winner of the CET (center for experimental theater) fellowship, The Rabinovitch foundation for the “Year of the Rabbit” piece. Graduated with a B.Des in Design from the visual communication department at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. Danced and specialized in choreography at the Belgian ROSAS company P.A.R.T.S school in Brussels.
For the past sixteen years she has created as an independent choreographer and performed in festivals and other outlets locally and internationally: Performance Sum Sum, Lublin Dance theater festival, Poland, Alamada Dance Festival, Portugal, Lux Helsinki annual light art event, Finland, Shades in Dance, Machol Shalem Dance, Dance arena, Voice of the word, Other Dance, Macholohet, Intimadance, Red Shell, International Exposure, Curtain Up, From Jaffa to Agrippa Festival and more. Her films were screened at festivals in Belgium, Bulgaria, Poland, Italy, Brazil, Canada, Serbia, Germany and France. In Israel they were screen at Nisui Kelim (Test Trial) Festival, Depend (Talui Bamakom), Tel Aviv Cinematheque, Empty House, and Epos at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. She worked as a lecturer of contemporary dance at the multi-department unit in Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Orot College, and Sapir Academic College animation department. Lectures at the Dance and Media course in the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, which studies different combination of dance and video. In December 2018 she premiered “Bird in the Room”, a joint exhibition with painter Hana Goldberg, with diverse films, video art installation and art installation created by her.
In 2017, Efrat Rubin treasured “Body Part”, a number of dance and media performances that took place in various spaces at Nissan Nativ Acting Studio. Furthermore, she curated a weekend of performances at Machsan2 named: “In Between”, which included performances, installations, films, a meetup between dancers, animation and visual art.
Recently she started using a unique AR technique that combines painting, technology and dance.
