Ofir Yudilevitch
About the author
Ofir Yudilevitch, 1983. Started learning capoeira at the age of fifteen, and taught Capoeira
and acrobatics for ten years. During 2007-2009 trained at the dancers’ workshop in Haifa.
After graduation worked as an independent dancer with various choreographers such as
Yasmeen Godder, Arkadi Zaides, Yossi Berg and Oded Graf, Iris Erez and others. In 2015
created his first work ”Gravitas”, a duet dealing with danger risk and masculinity in a h
humoristic way. ”Gravitas” won first prize at the ”Machol Shalem” International
Choreography competition (2016) and ran over a hundred times around the world in
Germany, Denmark, Italy, Romania, Hungary, Korea, Hong Kong and England among others.
Since then he created ”Far & Middle” with Chinese choreographer Yang Chan for the Julidans
Festival in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (2017), ”Concerte” for the international theater and
street art festival in Bat Yam (2017), ”Al Emet” (2017), ”Chamada” for the Entre Nos
collective in Brazil (2018), ”Jump” for the Uppercut theatre in Denmark (2019),and a series of
additional ”Concrete” shows – four different site-specific editions circa 2017-2020. During
2020 Ofir created another edition of ’Concrete’ featuring youth at risk from the
Communal-Educational project of the ’Yaad’ special education school in Bat Yam.
In his work, Ofir wishes to express extreme physicality, to stretch the ability of the
performers and to extend the boundaries of dance and choreography for stage performance
and alternative spaces such as streets, galleries, park etc.
Ofir is a member of the Choreographers’ Association and resides on the Association’s
creators committee. He is supported by the Ministry of Culture. Currently he studies Art
History and Philosophy at the Open University.
